How to ford the bay to Elafonisi island on Crete
Elafonisi beach is a heavenly place in the south-western part of Crete. It`s ideal for a family holiday, as there is always warm and calm water. It`s situated on an island separated by a shallow lagoon. Thanks to the white sand the water in this place has an amazing aquamarine tint. This beach is also famous for its pink colour which one can find in some places — they are small fragments of shells.

Wade the bay in order to get to the beach. The distance between the banks is only about 20 meters, and the depth is from 20 cm to 1 meter in different seasons.

How to do?

1. Rent a car and get to the city of Chania. You need to drive additional 35 km to the beaches in the south-west.
2. You will see the lagoon, from which you will have a view of the island. It is Elaphonissi.
3. Take all the essentials with you and get over across the strait on foot.
4. Rest on a pink beach with reserved flowers and trees and swim in crystal clear water.

Tips and hints

Come here before 11 or in the evening, because it`s almost always very crowded on Elafonissi beach.
