How to visit the cave of Zeus on Crete
Cave of Zeus, or Psychro Cave is located near the village Psychro. The easiest way to reach it - from Heraklion, here you will find buses, that go to the village on weekdays, at 5:45 am and at 1:45 pm. It is best to go to in the morning - then you will have to wait for the opening of the cave just a few hours, enjoying the plateau of Lassithi. Daily bus will bring you late, because the Psychro Cave often is closed much earlier than it must be, so there is a chance that you will not get inside.

From the village Psychro to the valley leads road about several kilometres long. To reach the Psychro Cave you'll have to climb the mountain path 800 meters long. If you feel tired, then you can take the help of the locals - they will offer you to rent a donkey, which ride you to the entrance.

Inside the Psychro Cave are two cameras - the lobby, where you will see the altar and the tables for heave-offering, and the main hall, with bizarre stalactites and stalagmites. At the bottom of the Psychro Cave there is an underground lake.
