See a waterfall from within

#1 of 12 things to do in Reykjavik
Place: Seljalandsfoss Waterfall in Reykjavik, Iceland

Seljalandsfoss is, perhaps, one of the most romantic waterfalls on Earth.

Located in a stunning picturesque place, it cascades gracefully down from a precipitous 60-meter-high cliff, like a snow-white bridal veil. But there’s something else about the waterfall that makes it so special.

Seljalandsfoss is the only Icelandic waterfall, that you can see from within. The thing is that there formed a deep cavity behind the water wall, where you can get easily along a special trail — if you are not afraid of getting wet, of course.

If this is not the case, you can watch the waterfall from a distance and still enjoy a bulk of positive emotions: the raging water flow, the scent of water, the view of mountains and hills, covered with bright green grass, all these create a thrilling sensation!

Tips and hints: The best time to come to see Seljalandsfoss is in the evening, when the sun is not set yet, and the waterfall is in full light. The most beautiful landscapes are to be found here in summer.
