The cold ice of Jökulsárlón is capable of melting even the hardest hearts!
Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon was formed as a result of ice slumps sliding down into the lake from the big glacier. It sounds so simple, yet, what is it so magnetizing about the lagoon for thousands of travelers, who dream of visiting it again after having seen the place once?
The thing is that Jökulsárlón is a truly pacifying, serene, and, of course, exquisitely beautiful place. It suits ideally as a place to contemplate and spend some time with yourself. Icebergs, floating around the lake in a leisurely way, flecks of sunlight in the water... But, unfortunately, the glacier is melting, and after some time this beauty can simply disappear... until the new glaciation takes place...
How to get: you can get to Jökulsárlón, heading north along Sandbakkavegur in the direction of Höfðavegur.
