Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon is not an exception. Every minute in this place is unique, as the icebergs, floating along the lake, are moving all the time. The lagoon is formed by the ice blocks, sliding down to the lake from the Vatnajökull glacier.
The ice blocks, like a pod of whales, are turning over, moving and melting slowly, staying alive only in memories and in magnificent photos.
Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon is situated at a relatively far distance from Reykjavík, that is why you won't meet crowds of travelers here. However, it only adds to the attraction of the lagoon, as they won't prevent you from enjoying the silence, solitude and beauty of the floating ice, majestic and exquisite at the time.
It is noteworthy, that you can expect the most exceptional moments at sunset, when the caps of the melting icebergs are lit by the evening sun, looking like an exquisite crown of the Snow Queen, while the water is reflected on the sides of icebergs, playing with hundreds of tints of blue...
Where to do?
The cold ice of Jökulsárlón is capable of melting even the hardest hearts!
