The Atlantic puffin won renown as a major symbol of Iceland for a good reason, as these cute birds took a fancy to the country's steep rocks and the neighboring islands. Countless colonies of these birds nestle here. Iceland's westernmost point, Latrabjarg, is considered the largest bird rookery in Europe. Apart from the puffins, here you can find myriads of other birds and even stare at fur seals, lying around the small rocky islands in a leisurely way.
Puffins are excellent fishers, they dive and swim under the water skillfully. This bird is often seen with a whole catch of small fish in its beak. It is easy to have a close look at puffins and watch their living habits, as they are not actually afraid of people and "pose" for the camera with pleasure.
