How to go sandboarding in Abu Dhabi
Liwa Oasis on the edge of Rub el-Khali Desert is surrounded by sand barkhans. When local Bedouins became fed up with 4WD desert safari, they came up with an idea of sandboarding.

Descending on a board down the sand dunes is a great alternative for those who didn't dare to go snowboarding. Experienced ones can take 300-meter barkhan - it is possible to accelerate up to 60 km/h.

How to do?

1. Liwa Oasis is situated 150 kilometers south from Abu Dhabi. The highest dune Tal Moreeb is 25 kilometers from Mezaira'a village.

2. Book an arranged sand dunes trip at your hotel in late afternoon. It takes about an hour to get to the place, 45 minutes to go sandboarding and one more hour to get back.

3. Beeswax your board to descend faster.
