Creation History
For Muslims, mosques are the second home where they spend hours in prayer, mourning their loved ones, or talking to Allah searching answers for the eternal questions of being. Therefore, more than 100 years ago the Arab Sheikh Rashid ibn Saeed Al Maktoum decided that any believer should travel more than one kilometer to the nearest mosque.
Small prayer houses began to appear throughout the city. And in 1975 the construction of the Jumeirah Mosque began. A grandiose project, ended four years later, and the center of Dubai was replenished with another amazing beautiful landmark.
Appearance
Jumeirah Mosque is an ivory building with two minarets, columns and a traditional for the medieval temple complexes of the Fatimids dome. Despite the scale, it looks elegant and modest. When you came closer, you notice the smallest details on the walls of the building. The mosque is especially beautiful at sunset or at night, when the artificial lighting turns on.
Inside
The mosque is made in a hypostyle style with numerous columns, a large prayer hall and a wall of a Qibla, witch tells in which way Mecca is located. Here you can relax from the noise of the city, drink a cup of coffee with camel milk, learn the main commandments of Islam, traditions, the meaning of prayers and the whole history of the rise of religion.
Dress code
Enter into the mosque is allowed only in closed clothes. For women, a handkerchief or abaya is required (they are issued at the entrance after buying a ticket). In addition, before entering, you will need to take off your shoes and go through the traditional ritual of purification.
