The Dubai Zoo was created by the order of the ruling at that time Sheikh Mohammed and initially consisted of a small number of animals from a private collection. Later the zoo received the status of a municipal one.
Now it consists of more than 1500 species of different kinds of animals: African lions, bears, Bengal tigers, giraffes, primates and snakes. Here the Arabian wolves and the Socotran cormorants, who are on the verge of extinction, have found their home. Here you can also find the Arab wild Gordon cat here from the Red Book. There is also a spacious aviary for birds, including predators, and the last in its kind eared vulture lives here.
By the way, the most amazing in the Dubai Zoo is the placement of enclosures. For example, lions are located next to chimpanzees and ostriches, hyenas next to giraffes, and tigers next to zebras. At first glance, it seems that the animals are used such neighborhood, but lions still love watching their prey walking around, as if they were hunting.
The territory of the zoo is well-groomed, clean and shady, therefore it is pleasant to have a rest from city bustle and heat here. The best time for visit is from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, at this time the heat in the city is already falling down, and time to feed the animals is coming up. It is quite entertaining to see how the lion eats up their last piece of meat, and a small deer is fed with milk from a bottle :)
In recent years, negotiations are underway to move the zoo to another location, since the animals are becoming cramped. Perhaps, we will soon see a grand opening of a new zoo in Dubai.
