The Panathenaic Stadium is the biggest sight in Athens. A place where sports and ancient Greek culture got united.
The Stadium where 50 000 spectators could watch performances and fully made of marble is located at the very center of Athens. The Olympics Games and the Gladiator fights used to take place here and now there is a museum here where all the Olympics torches are kept.
Now the stadium holds sports competitions very rarely. It becomes a place for different concerts, exhibitions and other Greek cultural events.
How to do?
1. If you are walking along the National park of Athens just go straight to the exit and right in front of it you’ll see the stadium. In case of taking subway, go to Acropolis metro station.
2. Buy the ticket at the entrance. The price includes an audio excursion in different languages.
3. Don’t forget to pop into the souvenirs shop and but a mini-stadium. Or come around the coffee shop in the stadium area.
