How to visit the ruins of Mtskheta in Tbilisi
This city was built in the V century BC by the legendary Mzhetos. Much later, the capital was moved to Tbilisi, but Mtskheta was a rich and prosperous city up to V century BC.

Now you can meet travelers from Ukraine, Russia, the United States and many other countries, strolling down the ruins. That`s why many cozy cafes and restaurants were opened near the entrance to the old town.

How to do?

1. Buy a minibus ticket at the railway station near the metro station "Didube" in order to get to Mtskheta for only 1.5 lari. The direction is written in Georgian, so ask the locals which one is going to Mtskheta. They go every 15-20 minutes.
2. Observe all the interesting places of the city on your own or hire a guide.
3. Visit the Jvari Monastery on the top of the mountain, from which you can see the splendid view of the confluence of two rivers - Kura and Aragvi, and Mtskheta itself. This picturesque landscape often placed on the postcards and other Georgian souvenirs.
