Discover the legends and lores of Rome and the Vatican City on a comprehensive 6-hour walking tour of the Eternal City. Walk in the footsteps of popes, poets, artists, Roman emperors and citizens, seeing Renaissance and Baroque buildings and fountains.

The tour comprises of two main sites – Ancient Rome, and Vatican City. You can choose to meet either at our office near the Vatican Museums, to start the tour at the Vatican City, or at the Arch of Constantine, to start the tour in Ancient Rome. There is a 30 minute break to relax, get something to eat or drink and to restore our energy between the sites.

Vatican City

At the Vatican, you will enjoy priority entrance at the Vatican museums, skipping the long lines. Once inside, your art-history expert local guide will introduce you to masterpieces of Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque art and the sculptures of ancient Rome, before taking you to the awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel.

In the Sistine Chapel, you will receive valuable expert insight into the paintings of Michelangelo, on the walls and ceiling. Your guide will explain the history of the period, with the difficulties encountered by the patron, Pope Julius II and by the artist, Michelangelo.

Leaving the Sistine Chapel, you will enter St. Peters Basilica* (if open - see Note below), once again without waiting in line! Standing beneath Michelangelo's great dome, you cannot help but feel somewhat humbled by the expansive surroundings.

The Basilica features several chapels, and contain numerous statues and mosaic works. Your guide will point out the most important, and leave you with time to look around by yourself. The Pieta, one of Michelangelo's most well-known religious sculptures, is among the highlights of this part of your visit.

Ancient Rome

You will visit the Colosseum - skipping the lines - before we take you through the Roman Forum, following the route of the "Sacred Way" - along which marched Rome's successful generals and Emperors, while your guide explains the history and importance of your surroundings.

From here you will continue your journey with visits to the main sites of the historical city center. Choose between the following two itineraries for this section of your visit:
• Piazza Venezia, the Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, Piazza Navona;
• Piazza Venezia, the Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps.

Bring comfortable shoes, a bottle of water and a thirst for knowledge, and let us do the rest!

* St Peter's Basilica - due to the Jubilee, the Basilia may be closed on the day of your visit, due to one of the many special events being organised in 2016. In the event that this happens, extra sections of the museums will be included as a bonus, and you will also be given information on the highlights of the Basilica from a book.
Duration: 6 hours.
Included: ticket fees, top-quality headphones.
Not included: lunch and souvenir shopping.
Tour schedule: from Monday to Saturday. Departure time 10:30 am.
