In the working class corner of Florence lies the flea market, where many people sell the antiques, and where not only local, but also travelers come to by something unique.
Flea market on Piazza dei Ciompi, Florence
Piazza dei Ciompi got its name from the "Ciompi", wool carder, who once rebelled because of the low wages and general working conditions. The square is located in the northern part of the Piazza Santa Croce, near Piazza Sant'Ambrogio. The area was badly damaged during the flood in 1966 - here you can still see signs that show how high the water level was.

Piazza dei Ciompi is a favorite meeting place of all of Florence antique sellers. Market works every day, but every last Sunday of the month they gather here in great numbers waiting for connoisseurs of antiques. Opposite the square is a cozy park and a playground were you can rest after a walk among the market.
