An amazing natural monument towering over the desert stands in the outskirt of Al Ain which borders with Oman. The height of Jebel Hafeet is 1,249 meters. A serpentine road is paved to its top, which is among the top ten most scenic roads in the world.
Several million years ago, the place where the mountain is now was under the sea. This is proved by some interesting findings - fish skeletons, fossilized shells, corals and crab claws found during the laying of the mountain road.
The many viewing platforms, including the area at the very top of the mountain, let you admire the surroundings from the high height. Especially a great view opens at sunset, when the whole city is buried in the bright lights of the setting sun.
