The chimera's lights are streams of flame escaping from the ground, which you can not only see, but also use to fry your favorite sweets on them :)
How to fry marshmallows in Chimera fires in Antalya
Interesting and mystical landmark is located on Yanartas Mountain in Turkey. Tongues of flame burst right from the ground. And although this natural phenomenon is explained by the fact that the underground gas is seeking to reach the surface and forms fire torches under big pressure, incredible legends are created about this place.

Ostensibly in the ancient state of Lykia (it was located in the province of Antalya) an unusual creature with the head of a lion, the body of a goat, the tail of a snake and breathing fire lived. According to legend, it was born by the Typhon giant and the snake-woman Echidna. Having a bad temper Chimera often plagued the inhabitants of the ancient city, but no one could cope with it and only Bellerophon struck her with a bow, and his horse Pegasus plunged her deep into the ground. And since that time the creature lives underground and erupts a flame that can be seen rising up a mountain.

How to do?

1. Buy marshmallows and skewers in the city, at the mountain you can buy only fruits and water.
2. Choose one of the options to get to the mountain: rent a car, book a tour or use public transport.
3. With any option, you will only get to the parking lot at the foot of the mountain, and then you will have to walk by foot.
4. At the foot of the mountain you will find a kind of box office (the man sitting on the stool).
5. Pay for the entrance fee (you can also rent a lantern if the night is close: climbing the mountain at night without any lighting is very dangerous).
6. Now 700 meters path among trees and rocks are waiting for you. Follow the paved path, then up the self-made steps and in 10-15 minutes you will see the Chimera lights.

7. Further you can orient yourself on them, but be careful and look under your feet, do not forget that you are in the mountains and here the flame bursts out right from the ground!
8. Choose a convenient place near the fire and take out your marshmallows.

When to do?

In the evening, the lights look more impressive, but climbing the mountain is dangerous and difficult. But in the daytime you may be in for a surprise by snakes guarding the mountain and basking in the sun. So choose at your own discretion when to go on this trip.

How much?

Entrance to the mountain costs 6 liras, and rent a lantern - about 5.

Tips and hints

• Be sure to wear comfortable shoes or a way will seem insurmountable to you.
• It is not recommended to climb up the mountain for those who suffer from cardiovascular diseases or pregnant women.
• Capture a flashlight to save a few lira on leasing a lantern.
