This salad has become national in Bulgaria long time ago, locals often cook, eat and insanely love this dish.

The Shopska salad comes from western Bulgaria, where the shops are an ethnic group of Bulgarians, who invented the recipe of such an interesting salad. Why interesting? For the reason that this salad consists of several ingredients that are usually laid out in a certain order: at the bottom - tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions; in the middle - cucumbers, parsley and olives; on top - different types of cheese (feta, bryndza and of course syrens - shopska cheese). What do you see now? - Thats right - the Bulgaria flag (white, green and red).
How to do?
1. Go to any cafe or restaurant - you can try shopska salad like everywhere.
2. Order the salad as a snack to the meze or rakia. That's how locals eat it :)
3. Do not forget to tell the waiter "blagodaria" which means "thank you" in Bulgarian.
