A prisoner in a mask, whose name no one knows till our days, was captured as a prisoner of Fort Royal for 12 long years.

The life story of a prisoner number 64489001 in a black velvet mask (which the legends turned into an iron mask) is still shrouded by mystery. Thousands of legends and conjectures were created by those who wanted to reveal the secret of the prisoner.

Some thought, that it was the illegitimate son of Louis XIV and Louise de Lavalier. That he slapped his legitimate brother and was doomed to spend the rest of his life in custody.
