Patron of Kefalonia island, Saint Gerasimos spent his last years in a cave located near the monastery named after him.
Next to the Monastery of St. Gerasimos, there is a small cell with an underground cave where the Holy One spent his last five years of life praying to the God.
Going down a narrow staircase, you will enter the upper cave, 3 meters deep, and then, through the hole in the floor you will fall into the distant cave. Here is silent inside and smells of incense, smoothly polished stones as an evidence of frequent praying of a recluse monk.
