The Lake Cave of Melissani is a truly unique and stunning place. The legend goes that Nymphs used to live here. One of them named Melissani fell in love with Pan the God of the wild he didn’t love her back. She couldn’t bear that and died. They say that the lake is the tears of Melissani.
Now the place admires with its fairy tale beauty. Staying there it is impossible not to believe that it is Gods’ place.
4 000 years ago the nature opened the fabulous place. Because of earthquake the rock hilltop collapsed and the lake became visible. When the rays of the sun enter inside the cave the make the lake look magnificent.

How to do?
1. You can get to the laka cave by car or by bus from the capital of Kefalonia Argostoli.
2. To reach the cave you can through the corridor artificially made for visitors. You have to pay for the entrance.
3. Go down the narrow corridor right to the quay.
4. Here small boats will take you to fabulous journey.

Adult ticket costs € 7, gor guided group memeber € 6. For children under 6 — € 4 and children under 4 — free.
