Every year the Perito Moreno Glacier displaces for 450 meters. Because of the moving its front often falls.
How to see the glacier fall in El-Calafate
The Perito Moreno Glacier holds the third biggest fresh water store in the world. Because of constant moving the glacier superposes the flows of river into Argentino Lake - under pressure of entrained water the front wall of the Perito Moreno often fall.

You can watch heavy blocks of ice falling from a height of 15-floor building a few hours or even a few days.

How to do?

1. Los Glaciares National Park is located 80 kilometers westward of El-Calafate airport. You can get here by rent car down RP11 highway or by bus from Terminal de Ómnibus de El Calafate. The price for one-way ticket is from $16. You can buy one here. Excursion buses run to the glacier from El-Calafate as well.

2. Foot path with signs is paved to Perito Moreno. There are platforms close to the glacier for visitors to watch the front wall fall with a bang. On the territory of the park there are camp spots to stay overnight - Camping Lago Roca and El Huala and also Miter River picnic spot.

50-meter glacier that is more than 30 thousand years old is located in Los Glaciares National Park - 78 kilometers from El Calafate where the main airport is located.

When to do?

From September to Easter week - from 8am till 6pm. After Easter to the end of August - from 9am till 4pm.

How much?

Entrance fee to the park territory is 500 pesos.

Tips and hints

• You can pay for tickets in the ticket desk only in cash in Argentine peso.
• From May till September you have to make a pre-registration in the park infocentre to visit the park.
