The Northern Lights are hardly comparable with anything at all. It is the real light show of the nature itself, as if accompanying a melody, inaudible to the human ear. All in all, one can hardly find the suitable words to describe this incredible natural phenomenon, and those who had a chance to see it at least once in their lifetime, may be called lucky people, indeed! Let alone the residents of northern countries (Iceland, of course, included), who are sure to have witnessed the Northern Lights more than once.
This celestial wonder is unpredictable, but you can boost your chances of seeing it, if you remember several simple hints.
The Northern Lights are most likely to be seen from October to January. You can go on a hunt for the phenomenon around 22:00 and 00:00. The visibility has to be excellent, as the dark cloudless sky will give you the best chance to admire the Northern Lights in all their beauty. Also, you should go to the suburbs to watch the Northern Lights, lest the lights of the city get jealous and steal the spotlight from the natural wonder.
You can take a step closer to your dream of seeing the Northern Lights by watching the solar activity. The higher it is, the higher the chances of seeing this natural phenomenon are, and the brighter and stronger it will be.
